Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

The Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland in conjunction with its member agencies and the Department of Health (DoH) has launched resources to help raise awareness of Female Genital Mutilation across Northern Ireland.

The materials are to raise awareness of FGM and assist staff who work with and deliver services to children and young people, women and families to respond to FGM.

The resources launched include:

•           A poster which will be displayed in prominent public places;

•           An information leaflet for front line professionals and those who may come into contact with those at risk or have suffered FGM;

•           A NI pathway and risk framework which will help staff better assess risks to a child or adult.
