Child Sexual Exploitation Committee

The Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Committee was developed to ensure services in respect of child sexual exploitation are effective across SBNI member agencies by implementing the actions arising from the 14 recommendations in the Leonard Evaluation Report.

Aim

To work collaboratively to ensure the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people who are being, or who are at risk of being, sexually exploited.

Tasks

  • To develop an understanding of CSE in Northern Ireland as experienced by young people.
  • To assist Policy and Procedure Committee by identifying good practice.
  • To report to the SBNI Board the delivery of the Leonard Evaluation Report Recommendations.

Membership

The group is chaired by a Detective Chief Superintendent, PSNI. Membership comprises representatives from the five Health and Social Care Trusts and;

  • Barnardo's
  • Education Authority Northern Ireland (EANI)
  • National Society for the Prevention Cruelty to Children (NSPCC)
  • Safeguarding Board Northern Ireland (SBNI)
  • Strategic Planning and Performance Group of the Department of Health (SPPG)
  • Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI)
  • Probation Board Northern Ireland (PBNI)
  • Youth Justice Agency (YJA)
